A.M. Best is pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Carter as Managing Director, Analytics, for its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) markets.
Carter will be based at A.M. Best's EMEA offices in London, with responsibility for A.M. Best's analytical teams and ratings in the EMEA region. He will take up his new position in September 2015 and will report to Roger Sellek, CEO, EMEA & Asia Pacific.
His hire follows the return of Stefan Holzberger, previously Managing Director, Analytics – EMEA, to A.M. Best's Oldwick, New Jersey, headquarters, where he has assumed the position of Chief Rating Officer.
Carter has extensive experience in the insurance industry and credit analysis, including more than 20 years of rating agency experience gained at Standard & Poor's (1987-1995), A.M. Best Europe (1997-2001) and Fitch Ratings (2001-2010).
On leaving Fitch Ratings in 2010, where latterly he was a Managing Director, to seek a new challenge, Carter joined the Financial Services Authority in the position of Manager, responsible for supervising wholesale insurance brokers in the United Kingdom before joining the Board of Capita Commercial Insurance Services Ltd in 2011 as Director.
Carter joins A.M. Best from Ernst and Young's offices in Hong Kong where he is currently Director, Insurance.
