FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OLDWICK - SEPTEMBER 09, 2014 02:13 PM (EDT)
Throughout September, A.M.BestTV is running a series of special interviews to support Life Insurance Awareness. In this episode, Angelo Lewis, senior associate editor of Best's Review, interviews LIMRA President and Chief Executive Officer Robert A. Kerzner, who believes life insurers have a huge untapped growth opportunity; yet, they must convince consumers that life insurance is a necessity, not just a purchase tied to major life events.

Kerzner states, "Consumers might not be purchasing life insurance but 50% of them inform us that they are aware that they need more, and if all of those potential buyers were to purchase, it would be a $9.0 trillion opportunity." Kerzner noted what he believes to be the obstacles in cultivating this enormous opportunity. "A low interest rate environment makes it very difficult to price a product, as well as changing demographics that are based on a host of reasons and regulations, either new or proposed, create many challenges that the life industry needs to address," Kerzner said.
