A.M. Best has released the latest installment of the Insurance Law Podcast, a series that examines timely insurance issues from an attorney's point of view.

This episode features Nicole Tackett, an attorney at Vernis & Bowling of Charlotte, PLLC, a law firm with 17 offices across the Southeastern United States. Ms. Tackett practices workers' compensation defense exclusively and handles a variety of occupational disease and injury-by-accident claims for multiple industries. The discussion addresses the impact of social media on workers' compensation claims.

Ms. Tackett explains how social media can be used to investigate and/or defend a workers' compensation claim. She recommends that an investigation begin early, but cautions that privacy issues and state law should be carefully considered. Ms. Tackett warns employers and workers' compensation carriers that "the other side" is also watching social media and those claimants can use it to build their case as well.

Vernis & Bowling of Charlotte, PLLC http://www3.ambest.com/DPSDirectorySearch/CompanyDisplay.aspx?dpid=43473 is listed in Best's Directories of Recommended Insurance Attorneys and Adjusters, the most authoritative and detailed reference for locating qualified legal counsel, independent insurance adjusting services and expert service providers since 1928.
