AM Best will host a market briefing on the state of Latin America’s insurance industries on Thursday, Mar. 12, 2020, at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort and Spa in Miami, FL, featuring leading Latin America-based insurance industry executives and AM Best analysts.

Alejandro Padilla Mariscal, chief executive officer of Latin American marine and non-marine reinsurance at SOM.US Holding International; Eduardo Fábrega Alemán, chief executive officer of ASSA Compañía de Seguros, S.A.; and Francisco Martínez Cillero, deputy chief executive officer of Reaseguradora Patria, S.A., will join Alfonso Novelo, senior director of analytics at AM Best América Latina, to share their perspectives on Latin America’s insurance markets. This unique, hour-long session will encompass points of view from an insurer, reinsurer, reinsurance broker and credit rating agency.

Hilario Itriago, a managing director at Rokk3 Insurtech, a global innovation technology and consulting company, and AM Best Senior Director Carlos Wong-Fupuy will conduct a session on insurance innovation trends and what the industry should expect in the near future. Novelo and Eli Sanchez, associate director in AM Best’s Mexico City office, also will discuss the state of the property/casualty insurance industry, focusing on commercial lines, personal lines and reinsurance, as well as how current trends could impact insurers and their credit ratings in 2020.

Finally, a separate session featuring Anthony Phillips, managing director at Willis Towers Watson, and Carlos De la Torre Flores, senior director, business development and operations, AM Best América Latina, will focus on emerging market risks, with an exploration of potential risk mitigation actions insurers can take to reduce volatility.
