At the recent Temple University Risk Management and Insurance Graduating Senior Career Reception, nearly 50 companies attended to discuss their open positions in the insurance industry, including A.M. Best. The reception was held for students that are graduating in December 2018 and June 2019.
“You could probably describe this as an initial speed-dating type of interview,” said R.B. Drennan, academic director, Fox School of Business’ Department of Risk, Insurance, and Healthcare Management at Temple University. “Our students are very well-prepared because we do train them on how to interview.”
Companies have stepped up their efforts to recruit new talent into the various insurance industry sectors.
“We are looking to hire young people and bring them into our industry,” said Decker Youngman, chief recruiting officer, Brown & Brown. “However, it is intense competition, since as is well-known that the insurance industry has an age problem. A lot of people are retiring and stepping down, which means the competition for young talent is quite intense.”
