The RIMS conference is taking place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, with an expected attendance of over 10,000 insurance professionals. It is a three-day trade show, convention and conference.

“Risk management as it exists today began in Philadelphia in 1752, created by Benjamin Franklin and his friends,” said Robert J. Whitlock, president and chief executive officer, The Philadelphia Contributionship. “Therefore, it is entirely appropriate that risk managers gather here to celebrate this year.”

The episode also explores how Philadelphia has become a significant market for insurance education. According to Mark Squilla, a Philadelphia councilman, the RIMS conference is expected to contribute around $29 million to the economy of Philadelphia.
