This episode of A.M.BestTV from the New York City Bar Association's annual program on insurance regulation issues looks at the largest regulatory topics that are touching every corner of the industry. To view the video program, click on http://www.ambest.com/v.asp?v=nycbar2015 .

In the episode, attendees said the range of issues continues to expand as layers of regulation mount in the United States and elsewhere, particularly work on an international capital standard that has been met with skepticism in the United States. David Snyder, vice president, international policy at the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, said, "You have increasing authority of basically banking-centric organizations like the Financial Stability Board that are increasingly directing the international insurance regulators as to what they will do and when they will do it."

Cynthia Borrelli, insurance practice director at Bressler, Amery Ross said that international regulators should be more welcoming to input from U.S. insurance companies and regulators on new developments. "My concern is that U.S. regulation will take a back seat to regulation abroad."
