Oldwick //BestWire// - Research and reporting by the staff of Best’s Review magazine has resulted in the most detailed listing and ranking ever of the top risk management and insurance undergraduate curriculums in the United States.

The schools were grouped into four categories: top performers, strong performers, popular performers and contenders. Top performers include Florida State University, Illinois State University, Temple University and University of Georgia. Visit Best’s Review’s free digital talent supplement at www.bestreview.com/rmil18 for the complete list. The special section includes detailed profiles on 20 risk management and insurance programs as well as interviews with the directors of each of the top programs.

Best’s Review’s ranking reflects the views of the insurance industry, and specifically, the businesses that hire the graduates. An online survey drew responses from 272 industry professionals. Best’s Review also interviewed hiring managers from 28 of the largest carriers and brokerages who shared their views on how well various programs prepared their graduates.

“Our aim in producing this staff project is to focus on the experiences of insurance organizations that are hiring these students,” Executive Editor Patricia Vowinkel said. “We hope to give students and schools a view of how the insurance industry views these programs, including which they highlight for recruiting purposes, and why.”

The interviews and the online survey yielded other findings, including:

  • More than two-thirds (68.2%) of online respondents believe risk management and insurance programs are sending graduates into the workforce with the skills they need to succeed;

  • 27.9% said graduates are somewhat prepared but not enough; and

  • 3.8% believe risk management and insurance programs aren’t preparing their students for success.
