OLDWICK - AUGUST 17, 2017 08:08 AM (EDT)
A.M. Best and Best’s Insurance Professionals and Claims Resource have released the latest installment of the Insurance Law Podcast, a series that examines timely insurance and claims issues from a legal point of view.

This episode features Attorney Nicole Tackett of Vernis & Bowling, which has 17 offices across the Southeastern United States. Ms. Tackett heads the firm’s North Carolina workers’ compensation department. She has exclusively practiced workers’ compensation defense since graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law in 2000.

The podcast discusses the unique issues that arise when handling trucking claims. Jurisdictional issues affect trucking claims because many accidents occur in states other than the ones in which the trucking company is located and the driver resides. Also, claims can be expensive if significant injuries prevent the driver from returning to his or her job or finding other suitable employment within the same wage range. To minimize these claims, trucking companies should have consistent policies for reporting and handling claims, as well as solid health and safety preventative measures.

Vernis & Bowling is a qualified member of Best’s Recommended Insurance Attorneys, a claims industry resource that has featured qualified legal counsel, independent insurance adjusting services and expert service providers since 1929.
