A.M. Best and Best’s Insurance Professionals and Claims Resource have released the latest installment of the Insurance Law Podcast, a series that examines timely insurance issues from a legal point of view.
This episode features Jerry Birnbach of Jerry Birnbach & Associates in Somers, NY. With 35 years of experience in store and display designs, Mr. Birnbach is one of the few retail experts in the insurance and legal fields and has served as an expert witness in over 70 cases. He is also a Fellow in the Institute of Store Planners and an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects.
The podcast discusses slip and fall matters and what companies and defense attorneys need to be concerned about during the litigation process. Retail and public assembly areas are expected to be safe and hazard-free within reason. The issue becomes how property owners or companies develop their safety guidelines, train their staff and then monitor and enforce their policies in order to maintain a safe environment or build a defense in the event of a personal injury lawsuit.
