FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OLDWICK - JANUARY 18, 2017 11:57 AM (EST)
A.M. Best is offering a free, shareable digital edition of the January 2017 issue of Best’s Review® magazine. In this issue, executives give investor and entrepreneurial points of view on how the “golden era” for insurance tech startups is disrupting many facets of the insurance industry. Insurtech, the fastest-growing segment of financial technology, is having a real and significant impact on the insurance industry. In 2015, investors deployed nearly $2.7 billion globally to more than 1,300 insurance tech startups, which is more than double the number of such startups that existed three years ago.

“For millennials, who are used to being able to shop and carry out other types of transactions on their mobile apps, the customer experience in insurance can seem outdated and daunting,” said Patricia Vowinkel, executive editor, Best’s Review. “Venture capital and insurance industry investors are wagering that what technology startups have done for other industries can now be done for insurance. Insurers are also hoping to put some of these new technologies to work to help with key underwriting and claims-handling operations.”

Other resources in this issue include:

  • Top Audit and Actuarial Firms: Rankings based on exclusive A.M. Best data and research; and

  • Insurance Trade Show Navigator: Descriptions, locations, dates and venues for the industry’s top trade shows, segregated by market.
