This episode of A.M. BestTV looks at how insurers are turning to drones for quick access during disasters and to explore remote or dangerous locations. The episode discusses the latest technology available along with the challenges insurers face in expanding the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Senior Vice President Vikki Stone of Poms & Associates Insurance Brokers says an ideal way insurers can make use of drones is during claims handling, particularly when an accident area is inaccessible to humans. David Quinones, founder of SkyCamUSA, said UAVs were used after Hurricane Sandy for aerial inspections. Stone said she's been in negotiations to establish coverage once guidelines for the commercial use of drones are set by the Federal Aviation Administration.
