

After 36 Years at USAA, Chief Executive To Step Down in 2025;
Board Considers Potential Successors
Allianz SE welcomes executive director, Arch names chief financial officer and
Everest fills new chief global broking officer role.
SAA President and Chief Executive
Officer Wayne Peacock plans to retire
in the first half of 2025 after a 36-year
career at the company, including nearly
five as CEO.
“The board is evaluating its list of
internal and external candidates, and
Wayne will stay onboard to ensure a
smooth transition,” Jim Zortman, board
of directors chair, said in a statement.
Peacock joined the company’s real
estate subsidiary in 1988 and has served
on the Executive Council since 2006,
according to his company bio.
Before becoming CEO in February 2020, Peacock was
president of USAA’s property/casualty insurance group,
the fifth-largest auto insurance carrier
and fourth-largest homeowners insurance
carrier, his bio said. During his tenure
at USAA, he has led teams across the
organization, including contact centers,
information technology, shared services,
strategy, marketing and communications,
security, and corporate real estate,
according to his bio.
Peacock steered the company
through the COVID-19 pandemic—
helping to transition the company’s
36,000 employees to safely work from
home in less than a week—and led the

founding of “Face the Fight,” an initiative to reduce
veteran suicide, according to a company statement.

of Allianz SE, until a
successor is confirmed,
subject to regulatory
approval, Allianz said.
Papanikolaou succeeded Joachim Müller as chief
executive officer of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty
SE, on Jan. 1. He also had additional responsibility for
leading Allianz Commercial globally.
Papanikolaou previously was CEO of Central Europe
for Allianz Group since 2015, and he was responsible for
Allianz national businesses across 11 countries. Prior to
that, he was CEO of Allianz Hellas from 2004 to 2015.
He was also a general manager in the life, sales and
property/casualty business. Before joining Allianz in 1998,

he served in various financial management roles for AGF
Kosmos. He started his career as an auditor with EY, the
company said in a previous statement.
Townsend has held various senior executive roles
across the industry over the last 34 years. Prior to his
appointment to the board of management of Allianz in
2021, Townsend was the CEO International at American
International Group Inc. based in Hong Kong and London,
responsible for all of AIG’s general insurance business
outside of the U.S., and the CEO for MetLife Asia and
part of the global executive committee, according to his
company bio.
Townsend is a member of the board of management
of Allianz SE, overseeing the global insurance lines,
reinsurance, Anglo markets, Middle East and Africa. He
is also the chairman of the supervisory board of Allianz
Global Corporate & Specialty SE, and a non-executive
director of a number of other Allianz Global Group
companies, according to his bio.

Officer Role
rch Insurance International named Marie Penberthy
to succeed Jason Kittinger as chief financial officer,
subject to regulatory approval. Her appointment forms
part of Arch’s succession planning strategy.
